Conclusion
Participating in San Jose State’s MS in Informatics Program has truly been a worthwhile, enriching experience. By exploring the Health Informatics Career Pathway, I expanded upon my background and professional experience as a Registered Nurse through coursework, projects, and related readings in the interrelated fields of Health Informatics, Health Data Analytics, and Epidemiology. I also was afforded the opportunity to explore other unique fields like Information Security, Project Management, and Human-Centered Design. Throughout this graduate program, I was able to identify a desire to merge my experience in nursing with a brimming interest in technology as either an Electronic Health Record Analyst or a User Experience (UX) Designer for a healthcare organization. To further develop the skills obtained throughout this program, I am considering utilizing Coursera and other course providers to take several certificate programs including UX, Project Management, and Cybersecurity. As I begin exploring careers that are more aligned with my program of study, I am reassured that I am better equipped to solve problems using data, integrate accessibility and usability in my practice, and foster a sense of community and collaboration.
